5 Ways to Refresh Your Skin Care Routine for Spring

Woman's head resting on flowersSo you’ve cleared out the clutter, banished the beanies, put away the boots, and started hitting the farmer’s market. Spring is officially here. But while you’ve been making adjustments to your clothes and lifestyle, have you been paying attention to your skin?

When the weather shifts from cold and dry to warm and humid, it’s time for a shift in skin care products as well. Here are five ways to update your skin care routine for spring.

Clear Away Dullness

Winter’s dry air and cold temperatures can lead to excess dead skin cells and a dull complexion. Now is the time to get some physical exfoliation to lift away cellular debris and encourage renewal and a brighter, fresher appearance. What do we recommend?

The simplest way to add physical exfoliation is with Vivant’s Buffing Grains. Use them on their own or add to any cleanser to turn it into an exfoliating scrub.

If your oily, acne-prone skin is also a little on the sensitive side or you have issues with uneven tone, Mandelic Acid 3-In-1 Exfoliating Cleanser is a naturally anti-bacterial, gently exfoliating brightener. It suppresses pigmentation and avoids the irritation that can trigger hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones.

Tune Up Your Toner

Along with warmer temperatures, comes increased sebum, sweat, and dirt from more time outdoors. Avoid clogged pores with a twice-daily swipe of clarifying toner to remove dead skin cells, dirt, oil, and traces of makeup. A well-formulated toner will nourish as well as refine, and it enhances the absorption of your targeted serums to maximize their benefits. Vivant’s Daily Repair Pads do all of the above and come in a convenient, go-anywhere, travel-sized tub of pre-moistened, single-use pads textured for mild exfoliation, perfect for your spring break getaway. Review Your Sunscreen Policy

Guarding skin against UV is a year-round concern, but as the weather warms up and you spend more time outdoors, it becomes even more crucial. Plus, in the springtime, when the temperatures are still mild, it’s easy to get fooled into thinking you’re not getting much UV radiation. Make sure your daily routine includes SPF protection to guard against the age-accelerating effects of sun exposure. Vivant’s Day Treatment Lotion SPF 15 is lightweight enough to wear under foundation. It’s also non-comedogenic and non-greasy, so it won’t clog pores or leave you looking shiny.

Lighten Up

If you’ve been using a heavy moisturizer for the winter, this is the time to move to something a little lighter. A gel formula like Totaloe Calming and Hydrating Gel is perfect for oily or acne-prone skin. It calms inflammation, kills bacteria, and promotes healing, plus it’s quickly absorbed to give skin needed hydration without adding greasiness or clogging pores.

Allantoin Sedating & Hydrating Lotion is a staff favorite for richly-hydrating and calming properties in a featherweight formula. Use this natural antioxidant, anti-inflammatory moisturizer to restore and revive dry, mature, irritated or overly exfoliated skin. Richly soothing, lightly firming, perfectly non-greasy, it’s ideal for daily use under makeup or on top of any Vivant rejuvenating serum.

Get a Facial

A change of seasons is a great time to get everything refreshed and balanced, including your skin. A deep cleansing, rejuvenating facial is the perfect way to give your skin the ultimate reboot.

If a professional facial isn’t in the budget, you can still give your skin a clarifying boost by treat yourself to a weekly at-home mask. For oily, acne-prone skin, try the detoxifying Sulfur Clay Mask to draw out impurities, remove excess oil, accelerate cell turnover, and improve circulation.

For normal to dry skin, Algae Soft Mask is enriched with concentrated marine minerals, amino acids, sea protein, and polysaccharides to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin leaving skin radiantly soft and smooth.
